Here right directly on center court from the McLeod Center as ISU prepares to take on Northern Iowa at 4 p.m. The Redbirds can keep sole claim of third place in the MVC with a win, but a loss knocks ISU into a four-way tie for third with UNI, SIU and Missouri State. I have never seen an ISU victory in this building because there hasn't been one. Last ISU win in Cedar Falls came in 2004 at the adjacent UNI-Dome. ISU has lost seven straight in the McLeod Center. Shoot me any questions you like and I'll try to answer ...
ISU can finish anywhere from No. 3 to No. 7 seed for MVC tourney. The easy scenario is to win all three remaining games and Redbirds definitely No. 3. A Bradley loss to Wichita State on Wednesday (highly likely) would mean ISU couldn't be worse than No. 6 seed. Missouri State has just passed ISU on the nonconference strength of schedule tie-breaker. The Redbirds' nonconference opponents keep losing.
They did an excellent job the first time after Tuttle got about 8 points in the first 3 minutes. They really need to help Reggie and Samuel when Tuttle gets the ball low, but that could open it up for the shooters. Nate Buss didn't play in the first game and he is a dynamite shooter. If ISU can hold Tuttle to 15 today, the Redbirds have an excellent chance to win.
Considering they lost one of their best big men after the fourth game and then Jones in late January, I would say the coaching staff has done an excellent job. I never, and neither did Muller, forsee them playing zone almost all the time. Really, when Middlebrooks went AWOL, I thought 10 wins maybe 11. They are already at 15. The last three games are gonna be difficult, though. But so far, so good.
I don't have the exact numbers, but John Twork just told me Missouri State has gone ahead of the Redbirds. That might not be good as far as seeding. However, it could still change by next Saturday when its locked in.
They still are not sure. I am looking at JJ right now and he is still in the walking boot. I really think it's highly unlikely he plays in St. Louis, but if they play in CIT or CBI then I could see him playing a little bit.
Hey, Houston. I really think Boeheim was trying to light a fire under his team for the rest of the season. He was thinking more about the NCAA tourney than beating the Dookies.
Kaza is still a decent defender. They are just buying minutes so the starters can stay fresh. At least that's how I see it.
I don't think so, Buckeye Girl. They are just getting the old center section of floor so it shouldn't be a problem. CIT home games? Yipeeeeee
Hard to say if McIntosh will be that guy. I've never seen him play. They had someone last year. Tyler Brown was really fun to watch. He could light it up at a moment's notice. That's what I think they could really use, a perimeter guy who shoots about 40 percent outside the arc. Those guys are hard to find.
Call Larry Lyons. For a nice cash donation I'm sure he can fix you up
I agree. I was being a little sarcastic. But the question then is how many people will show up to watch Akron? Remember, season tickets don't count. I don't think it's many, especially if NCAA tourney going on TV at same time.
I think they gave Zach a real big leash for most of the season and have definitely shortened it in the last two weeks. The kid has a lot of talent. Wish he can manage his emotions better. I can't believe he didn't get a technical the other night. The referee was ready to T him up and then decided at the very last second against it.
Gregg Marshall might have something to say about that.
Don't know for sure. Need to check. I would think insurance.
Two words -- Anthony Beane. Since being moved to point guard about 3 weeks ago, the Normal Community High School product has been the best player in the MVC.
Depends if someone ponies up the cash, I imagine
If you mean Coach of the Year voting, right now Dan might be the No. 2 choice behind Marshall. ISU was picked seventh and now third with basically a new cast of players. But there are still three games left.
I would still say Missouri State. The Bears have done a good job without Marcus Marshall, but I think ISU matches up well with them. Gulley is a tough guy to stop, though, but is he any tougher than Tuttle? I doubt it.
Big time officiating crew here today... Higgins, Eades, Hall.
I haven't thought of that, but I guess its possible with the Jays being or 4 or 5 seed. That would be kind of neat, wouldn't it? You're a smart cookie there, Houston
I would say it's still probably Indiana State because they have experience, play good defense (usually) and have a fifth-year senior in Jake Odum.
Neither do I. That would ruin the moment for Marshall
If you say so ... I don't think about that stuff. Over my head. You coming to the Lou, Houston?
Shocks are just as good as any team in country... but, there is no clear-cut team that has a golden path to the Final Four.
Roof leaked this week and caused some damage
I would say under on the fouls. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No chance of Samuel and Reggie on floor together. Have to save the 10 fouls at the 5 spot.
I'll toast one in your absence, Houston!
I'm leaving Thursday AM on the choo choo and staying til at least Saturday AM. Hopefully later
That's all folks. Thanks for participating. This was a good one. We will do again at 6:30 Wednesday before Senior Night at ISU. That ceremony won't take long. Two senior managers. See ya then. Follow game updates on Twitter at Pg_Benson
