Here at center court at Gentile Arena on the campus of Loyola University in Chicago. First time been at this gym for a game. Nice and cozy. Reggie Lynch is a masked man today. He's also wearing a red headband probably to support it. It's a good look for him. With a win, ISU will be in sole possession of third place in MVC at 7-5 with six games left. Fire away with your questions.
Officials today are Mike Sanzere, Tom O'Neill and David Hall. That's got to be at least 70 years of experience. Sometimes that's good. Sometimes not. Sanzere makes some iffy calls sometimes.
Good question... usually it's before the third media timeout, so I'm guessing at 8:57. I will keep track and let you know.
I was wondering for those Catholics out there ... I missed church today. Does the pregame prayer I heard they do here at Loyola count for me?
When I talked to Paris Lee on Friday, he said he attended a summer camp on Loyola before committing to ISU. He said Gentile Arena reminds him of a high school gym, which he wasn't complaining about. Fans right on top of action. Top row of arena would be like being in row 20 of lower bowl at RBA. This place could get really, really loud if there's a lot of fans here. I like it. Something totally different than almost every other place in Valley.
I think Loyola might try to play a little more up-tempo at home. That was an ugly game. There was no flow to it at all. Both teams are small so you would think the tempo would be faster than it was at RBA. Guess you never know.
A lot of red coming into Gentile Arena. I thought this would be at least at 50-50 crowd. But I might have been wrong. It could be 60-40 for ISU.
Agree. I just can't see Loyola doing that at home. They played terrible at home vs. Bradley in a 63-54 loss on Thursday but I don't think they slowed it down as much as they shot a season-low 34 percent from field.
I say under, meaning 8:57 mark
Loyola's Milton Doyle has MVC Frosh of Year practically locked up and could also be Newcomer of Year. He signed with Kansas and got homesick before classes started and transferred to Loyola. He's a big-time player who will get better and better each year.
John Munn told me Reggie doesn't like wearing the mask, but is fine. No player really likes wearing a mask. It feels so different.
Matt Stacho didn't warm up. Not sure if he's hurt or what.
Sister Jean just gave the pregame prayer. She gave ISU some props but asked the big guy for a Rambler victory. Love it!!!!!!!!!
Loyola just showing clips of 1963 NCAA championship game. Only NCAA title won by an Illinois school. Pretty cool.
Almost show time. Thanks for the 2 of you who participated. Will do again at 6:30 Wednesday night at Evansville. Thanks again.
