Hello Redbird fans from CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb. The Redbirds and Valley-leading Creighton tip off at 9:05 p.m. on ESPN2. Creighton puts reporters right next to the visiting bench, so you might see me next to ISU assistant AD Matt Lyons. I'm sure everyone has questions so fire away...
Kaza Keane is out of tonight's game. He got bumped near the end of the Drake game and it has been determined he has a concussion. He has improved, but Dan Muller is going to take the cautious route and hold him out a game.
I'm a little better than in Des Moines ... Thanks for asking. Got to play with the little aches and pains.
Hey, Buckeye Girl is back! She's not mad at us like some thought.
Keane didn't play against Louisville, either, if you remember. He has struggled some, but has been making progress. Hopefully he will miss only one game. Anthony Cousin should pick up a couple extra minutes.
I still think ISU needs to be 9-9 to be in that mix. That means 4-2 the rest of the way and then the tiebreakers take over...
Hahaha .... I wouldn't say Gibbs is exactly a dirty player. He does play with an edge, though. Creighton probably says the same of Johnny Hill.
Frenchie definitely is hitting his stride after a very slow start.
I would say Keane, Hill, Ekey, Allen and John Jones. How's that?
Oh, yeah, keep winning and don't worry about it. I like it.
I don't think Johnny will be on McDermott much. Really need someone with length to try and combat him in the post. That means Ekey, Frenchie and possibly Carmichael on occasion.
Wow, that's a loaded question. IF the Redbirds win, then it's a sprint to finish for Jays, Indy State and Shocks. I would have to look at sked to tell you the favorites.
First half defense is going to be the key. If you let Creighton get 50 in first half, it's over. They aren't Drake. The Bulldogs really collapsed at the end of that game. I saw Phelps leaving the arena with his head down after I got my story finished. Kind of wondered if he will still be there next year.
They are busing to both Evansville and Northern Iowa. They also fly to Missouri State. As for me, I drive everywhere except Wichita.I kind of like being on the road by myself as long as there's no snow or ice.
They would, but they leave right after game and I need time to write. I did fly with them to Stanford last year. Was hoping to go to Nevada right after, but that didn't happen, of course.
I haven't seen anything yet, but if I did I couldn't tell. Swore to secrecy when you watch practice. I remember ISU was practicing a zone last year in practice. Jank came over and said, You're not writing about that, are you? I told him looks like typical man-to-man defense, and he smiled.
You know I would have to look up their record at this time last year. Way too early to say right now. All depends on good finish. It's probably a longshot, but not impossible. They are not thinking NIT, though.
Jim Les Night ... actually, Buckeye Girl, he didn't play in many Thursday play in rounds. He was the king of the 4-5 quarterfinal match, something like 5 or 6 years in a row.
Officials are Scott Thornely, Mike Thibodeaux, Jeff Campbell.
Do you means the ones who have already signed or the 20-30 they are pursuing?
No... first game was delayed by SUNSHINE ... second game pdd until 6:30 and then coolant slipped on ice and was delayed. Also, rain starting to come down. Dumb idea in February.
I know Reggie was there for a game, and then Paris Lee headed over after the Proviso game against U High. I'm not sure about Tony Wills. I do need to find out their stats this year.
Game almost ready to start. Just heard it's Toga Night for Creighton fans. They were pretty rude talking during the national anthem. Kids will be kids. Have fun watching the game.
