Hello from Carver Arena. I was having some internet issues, but up and working. Fire way.
Let;s keep it clean ... Will Egolf is uniform. He seems to be moving OK. No brace or any wrap on his knee. He just jumped for a rebound so we have to assume he's playing.
I haven't seen anyone slip yet. It was slippery outside, though. Lots of rain starting to Carlock all the way to Peoria.
Not announced until 10 minutes before game. If I see an assistant coach, I'll see if they can tell me. I assume Bryant Allen will be back as a starter.
There has been some weird timing issues the last two years yet. I was going to take a picture of the timer and send it to Jankovich. He would probably break out in a cold sweat. Not sure if that guy is still here.
No, he's just practicing every day and getting better every day. Also, there's a new floor this year. Rob Judson just said it's not slippery. Heard there was a malfunction today with the cooling system and floor was like the ice underneath it but supposedly it's OK now.
Game on Comcast Chicago and Fox Sports Midwest
I am going to say Jon Ekey. He's overdue to start making some shots.
It's hard to see Frenchie playing with a chip on his shoulder against anyone. Never seen a guy smile so much. But I did get the impression talking to him yesterday that he's a little ticked off at the ugly reception he's gotten here the last two years.
I've never gotten the feeling that the rivalry is as intense with the players as the fans. As far as the coaches, I think they appreciate it. Obviously, it's a big deal to Muller. Remember, Judson has been on both ends. As Geno Ford said Monday, it's hard to be a rivalry when one team keeps winning.
This is my seventh year on the beat. The thing I remember is Osiris' sophomore year when the Redbirds had a chance to win at the end. Osiris was going 100 mph down the court. He launched a shot on the baseline from behind the basket that didn't have a chance. He was trying to make a play and got caught up in the moment.
I've never heard that. I know Wichita State wanted him real bad.
I would say Walt Lemon, Jr. He is one of the quickest players in the Valley and really makes their team go, especially in transition. It will be up to Bryant Allen to stay with him. If Allen does a good job, the Redbirds should be in good shape.
Officials tonight are Mike Stuart, Kelly Self and Rich Randall. Good crew.
I think there is a slight chance. With nine Valley games left, ISU probably would need to go 7-2 in Valley and also win BB and a game or two in Valley tourney. It will be tough, but not impossible. Only sure L is at Creighton.
For some reason I'm thinking Jon Ekey is due for a big game.
I see Zeisloft getting more minutes like did the other day. I don't see Threloff playing unless one of the bigs gets in foul trouble.
Have to win tonight and Saturday and then only a slight chance for TV BB game.
I really think the players looked at the situation and saw the season slipping away quickly and took it upon themselves to start listening to the coaches.
Zeisloft has to be able to defend in order to be on the court. It's that simple.
That's what I told Randy Kindred on the way over here. I would really like to see Porter again, but I've never been to Macomb, either (hard to believe).
Threloff hasn't played the last 4 games. They are going with a three-man rotation up front. He's the odd man out
I think they did, but league games usually are halfcourt affairs (any league, really). You've got to play defense to win. You can't outscore teams. For some reason, it took them a while to understand that.
You could be right, Jake. But I see Creighton really getting on a roll and not losing at home.
That's all folks. Showtime. Empty seats up top. We will do again at 2:30 pm Saturday before SIU game at RBA. Enjoy the game!. Comcast and Fox Sports Midwest.
